Middleburg, FL
Waterproof flooring is a broad category that includes SPC (stone-plastic composite) LVP, WPC (wood-plastic composite) LVP, tile, and specialty waterproof systems — all designed to completely resist moisture damage at the surface and subfloor level. Gator Carpet and Tile installs waterproof flooring solutions for bathrooms, laundry rooms, kitchens, lanais, basements, and any Florida space where water is a constant threat.
Whether you need new waterproof flooring installed, an existing floor replaced, or a repair that saves you the cost of full replacement — we handle every stage of the job.
Waterproof flooring installation by Gator Carpet and Tile starts with a full moisture assessment — meter testing the slab or subfloor, identifying any active moisture sources, and specifying the correct waterproofing system for the space. We install SPC LVP, tile with epoxy grout, and other waterproof systems with the sealing, transitions, and perimeter detail work that makes a waterproof installation actually waterproof.
Learn more →Waterproof flooring replacement is often the result of a failed original installation — flooring that was supposed to be waterproof but was installed without proper subfloor prep or moisture control. Gator Carpet and Tile diagnoses the root cause of failure before replacing the floor, so the new installation doesn't repeat the problem.
Learn more →Florida's climate makes waterproof flooring not a luxury but a necessity in most rooms. With hurricane season, daily afternoon thunderstorms, pool and beach access, and year-round humidity, conventional flooring materials simply can't keep up. Every floor Gator Carpet and Tile installs in a Florida home starts with a moisture assessment — because the best waterproof floor in the world will fail if the subfloor is the problem.
Middleburg's housing ranges dramatically — from 1960s–80s homes on multi-acre properties with original terrazzo and linoleum floors, to newer Oakleaf-adjacent subdivisions with current builder-grade vinyl. The rural character means many homes have workshops, utility rooms, and garages that also need durable commercial or waterproof flooring alongside the living areas.
Inland Clay County's sandy soils drain well but Middleburg's lower-lying areas near Black Creek and associated wetlands are prone to seasonal moisture fluctuation. Homes that sit below grade or near drainage easements often have elevated slab moisture during summer rainy season. We always conduct a moisture meter test before installation in Middleburg.
Middleburg residents often commute to NAS Jacksonville, Orange Park Medical Center, or Jacksonville proper — they're busy households that appreciate contractors who show up when they say they will and get the job done. Many Middleburg clients are repeat customers who call Gator Carpet and Tile first because we've done their neighbors' homes.

Waterproof Flooring in Middleburg
Large-format porcelain tile with epoxy grout is the most waterproof bathroom floor option — zero water absorption, no grout to seal, and impervious to the humidity levels of a Florida bathroom. SPC luxury vinyl plank with sealed transitions is the second-best option for bathrooms.
The most common cause of waterproof flooring failure in Florida is slab moisture that wasn't addressed before installation — the floor itself is waterproof, but water pushing up through the slab from below will eventually lift adhesive or force floating planks to buckle. The second most common cause is improper transitions that allow surface water to get under the floor.
