Old carpet and tile out, one waterproof floor through the living areas, halls and bedrooms. Furniture moved, vapor barrier down, about five working days for 1,500 sq ft.
Get a Free In-Home Measure Call 904-262-7304Whole-house vinyl plank is our favorite job. When the carpet in the bedrooms, the tile in the living room and the old vinyl in the kitchen all become one floor, the house feels bigger, brighter and newer. One customer put it this way after we finished: “I no longer feel like I’m living in a time warp.”
Vinyl plank is the waterproof kind, so it handles Florida humidity, wet feet from the beach, kids and dogs. We sell and install Shaw, Homelike and Parkay, and you can compare them at our Philips Highway showroom.
Taking out old floors, stairs and any extra leveling are priced separately and written on the same quote.
All-in installed prices for common home sizes, before taking out old floors. Your exact number comes at the free measure.

Better-grade plank through the whole house, with 450 sq ft of bedroom carpet and 1,050 sq ft of old tile coming out:
Total: about $19,358–$23,858. If the tile is flat and solid and can stay, take $4,200 off.
Plan on about one day for every 300 square feet of open floor. That covers prep and moving the furniture. Rooms that are cut up take longer: a 300 square foot kitchen with two islands is a two-day job by itself. Taking out old tile adds time too. You get the schedule in writing at the measure.
Most families stay home the whole time. We plan the order of the rooms with you, move the furniture as we go, and leave you a path to the bedrooms and the kitchen at the end of each day. If plank is going into a kitchen or bathroom, we go over appliances and toilets at the measure so nothing is a surprise.

One floor across the open rooms, finished clean against the kitchen tile.
One floor through every room, bathrooms included. Rigid-core plank is waterproof, and the house looks the most open.
Plank in the living areas and bedrooms, tile stays in the bathrooms and laundry. Less tear-out, and it saves money.
If your tile is flat and solid, floating plank can go right over it. We check the height at doors and cabinets first. More on plank over tile.
Cracked, loose or hollow tile comes out ($4/sq ft) so the new floor sits flat and stays that way.

At $8 to $17 per square foot all-in, 1,000 square feet runs about $8,000 to $17,000 and 1,500 square feet about $12,000 to $25,500, depending on the grade you pick. Taking out old floors is extra: carpet $0.35 a square foot, tile $4 a square foot. You get the exact number in writing at the free measure.
About one day for every 300 square feet of open floor, including prep and moving the furniture. A 1,500 square foot house is usually about five working days. Rooms that are cut up take longer: a 300 square foot kitchen with two islands is a two-day job on its own. We give you the schedule at the measure.
Yes, most families do. We work through the house in an order we plan with you, move the furniture as we go, and leave a path to the bedrooms and the kitchen at the end of each day.
Floating plank can go over tile that is flat and solid, which saves the tear-out cost. Tearing it out makes sense when the tile is cracked or loose, when the grout lines are deep, or when the extra height would rub doors and cabinets. We look at it at the measure and tell you which way makes sense, with the tear-out price ($4 a square foot) written down either way.
It can. Rigid-core plank is waterproof, and one floor through the whole house looks clean. Some people keep tile in the bathrooms and laundry. Both are fine, and we will price it both ways if you want to compare.
Yes, on every slab. We test the slab for moisture at the measure, note the reading on your estimate, and lay a vapor barrier under the plank. It is part of the all-in price.
Yes. Stairs are $200 a step and are written on your quote. We cut and fit each tread so the planks look seamless with the floor upstairs and down.

Our installs are led by James Lowe, our lead installer, who has installed Gator floors for 20+ years, usually working alongside Gary. Customers name them in dozens of our Google reviews, and some tell friends to ask for them by name. When you book with Gator Carpet and Tile, you're not handed off to a stranger.
